Steps To Getting Over A Breakup

When getting over a breakup you will experience a roller-coaster ride of emotions that can not be very fun. Whether you were the one who did the breaking up, or your ex broke up with you, you are guaranteed to feel various intense emotions.

During the actual break up you most experienced a number of “symptoms” such as shortness of breath, increased heart rate, dizziness, nausea and even vomiting. These symptoms vary from person to person, but I want to let you know that they are normal. They happen to anyone after a shocking or unexpected event occurs.

Before getting over a break up you may have a period of numbness where you feel nothing and cannot even think straight. In fact, you may still be denying the break up even happened. Again, this is very normal.

Then you may start feeling angry, depressed or both. Feeling this way about the relationship is perfectly normal. It how you grieve after your loss. You need to accept these emotions and express yourself in the appropriate way.

When getting over a breakup it is okay to cry on a friend’s shoulder or tell them how you feel. But never take out your anger on your ex! It will only make you look weak and pathetic to others, and you will feel worse later on. Just because you are hurt, it does not give you the right to hurt others, even if you feel they deserve it.
